Mar chuid de Chuisle, tá Ealaín na Gaeltachta i mbun ceardlanna agus imeachtaí sna healaíona dúchasacha a reáchtáil agus a mhaoiniú do dhaoine óga ar fud na Gaeltachta. Cuireadh tús leis an gclár in 2019, agus tá os cionn 2000 duine óg ag glacadh páirt agus os cionn 40 scoileanna rannpháirteach. Cuirtear ranganna ceoil, damhsa, amhránaíochta agus na healaíona béil (lúibíní, scéalaíocht) ar fáil le scoth na dteagascóirí. Tá an lógó nua á sheoladh beo ar Facebook Ealaín na Gaeltachta amárach (26 Bealtaine 2020) ag 8am agus beidh an damhsóir sean-nóis Ruadhán Ó Flatharta as Conamara ag glacadh seilbhe ar chuntas Instagram Ealaín na Gaeltachta don lá.

Is clár de chuid Ealaín na Gaeltachta í Cuisle, atá maoinithe ag an Roinn Cultúir, Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta a chuir buiséad €1.275 milliún ar fáil thar 3 bliana (2019-2022) le díriú ar chur chun cinn na n-ealaíon dúchasach teanga-bhunaithe agus mar thaca don phróiséas pleanála teanga.

Tá 3 scéim oscailte faoi láthair chun na healaíona dúchasacha a chothú i measc an aosa óig. I mbliana den chéad uair, de bharr shrianta sláinte agus sábháilteachta na géarchéime, tá Ealaín na Gaeltachta ag cur maoiniú ar fáil faoi Chuisle chun campa cruthaitheachta ar líne a reáchtáil an samhradh seo do dhéagóirí a bhfuil dúil acu sna healaíona dúchasacha agus ar mhaith leo úsáid a bhaint as teicneolaíocht chun a gcuid ealaíon a chur i láthair ar bhealach núalach. Táthar ag glacadh le tairiscintí ó ealaíontóirí, grúpaí nó eagraíochtaí a bhfuil smaointe núalacha agus taithí acu ag úsáid múnlaí cruthaitheacha agus nua-aimseartha teicneolaíochta le spriocanna ealaíonta a bhaint amach. Is é an 8 Meitheamh 2020 an spriocdháta i gcóir tairisceana. Seo an dara bliain an dá scéim eile á reáchtaíl; an Scéim NÓTA atá oscailte go leanúnach agus an Scéim NEARTÚ a fhógraítear go bliantúil d’eagrais.

Agus ainm nua an chláir á sheoladh dúirt Cathal Gaon, ball de Bhord Ealaín na Gaeltachta agus cathaoirleach choiste comhairleach an chláir Cuisle, “Is sraith eile é seo d’obair Ealaín na Gaeltachta. Is iad an dream óg cuisle na Gaeltachta, croí agus anam na Gaeltachta agus tríd an chlár seo, déanfar forbairt ar an óige, na healaíona dúchasacha agus an Ghaeilge chun saibhreas cultúrtha na Gaeltachta a cheiliúradh agus a thabhairt chun cinn go dtí an chéad ghlúin eile.”

Ag labhairt mar theagascóir ar an gclár dúirt an damhsóir Ruadhán Ó Flatharta, buaiteoir an chomórtais Steip 2019, “Bainim fíor-shásamh as na ranganna, ag múineadh na ngasúr agus déagóirí agus fios agam go bhfuil mé ag cur leis an gcultúr agus ag cinntiú go mbeidh damhsa ar an sean-nós go láidir i measc an phobail sna blianta amach romhainn. Agus b’ónóir é go ndearnadh taifead ar mo chuid steipeanna chun lógó Chuisle a dhearadh.”

Rinneadh taifead ar Ruadhán i mbun damhsa ar an sean-nós agus rinneadh mapáil ar thonnfhad na steipeanna chun cruthanna an lógó a dhearadh. Cuirtear spiorad na Gaeltachta in iúl tríd rithim na steipeanna agus léiríonn an íomhá an éagsúlacht agus an fhéiniúlacht a nascann óige na Gaeltachta le chéile; is iad an óige cuisle na Gaeltachta.

Young people learning the traditional arts keep the Gaeltacht pulse beating

Ealaín na Gaeltachta is delighted to announce the logo for the Cuisle programme and a call for expressions of interest for a new online creativity camp scheme. As part of Cuisle, Ealaín na Gaeltachta is engaged in running and funding workshops and events in traditional arts for young people throughout the Gaeltacht. The programme, which was started in 2019, has over 2000 young people and over 40 schools participating. Classes are provided in music, dance, song and oral arts (lúibíní and storytelling) by the finest practitioners. The new logo will be launched on Ealaín na Gaeltachta’s Facebook page tomorrow (26 May 2020) at 8am and the sean-nós dancer Ruadhán Ó Flatharta from Conamara will be doing an Instagram takeover of the Ealaín na Gaeltachta page for the day.

Cuisle is an Ealaín na Gaeltachta programme, funded by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht who provided €1.275 million over 3 years (2019-2022) aimed at promoting language-based traditional arts and in support of the language planning process.

Three schemes are currently open to encourage the traditional arts among young people. This year, for the first time, due to the crisis health and safety restrictions, Ealaín na Gaeltachta is providing funding under Cuisle to run an online creativity camp this summer for teenagers interested in the traditional arts and who would like to use technology to present their arts in an innovative way. Proposals are welcome from artists, groups or organisations with innovative ideas and experience in using creative models and modern technology to achieve artistic objectives. The deadline for proposals is 8 June 2020. This is the second year the other two schemes, NÓTA which is open on a continuous basis and NEARTÚ which is announced on an annual basis for organisations, have been available.

Launching the name for the new scheme, Cathal Goan, Ealaín na Gaeltachta Board member and chair of the Cuisle programme’s advisory committee said, “This is an additional layer to the work of Ealaín na Gaeltachta. Young people are the pulse of the Gaeltacht, they are the heart and the soul of the Gaeltacht and through this scheme, young people, the traditional arts and the Irish language will be developed to celebrate the Gaeltacht’s cultural wealth and to pass it on to the next generation.”

Speaking as a tutor for the programme, the sean-nós dancer Ruadhán Ó Flatharta, winner of the Steip 2019 competition, said “I get great satisfaction from teaching these classes knowing that I am contributing to our culture and ensuring that sean-nós dancing is being passed on and will thrive in the community for years to come. I was honoured to have my steps recorded for the design of the Cuisle logo.”

Ruadhán’s sean-nós dancing was recorded and had the wavelengths mapped for the design of the logo’s shapes. The Gaeltacht’s spirit is expressed through the steps’ rhythm and the image portrays the diversity and identity which connects the Gaeltacht’s youth to each other; young people are the pulse of the Gaeltacht.
