Description
Calling all brides-to- be and fashionistas. Get inspired with a visit to the exhibition “The Dress - Three Centuries of Weddings” to be held over the weekend of the 1st- 3rd of December at the Atkins Hall, Dunmanway. An inspiring collection of antique dresses carefully curated from the private collection of costume designer and couturier Gwen Mc Guirk and the expert eye of consultant historian, Michelle O’ Mahony, owner of OM History Consultant making this a unique collaboration.
Dating back as far as the Victorian era with some modern-day interpretations alongside the real thing. The exhibition is part of a fundraising event for Dunmanway Historical Association. More than a historical memoir, there will be a host of entertaining events including “pop-up” presentations in the course of each day, on the following topics – the evolution of the wedding dress, the evolution of makeup and on Saturday 2 December, a presentation on dining etiquette throughout the years, a “Downtown Abbey” moment!
Adjacent to the main exhibition area will be a “mini” wedding fair showcasing the best of local wedding artisans, creatives, and suppliers.
