Description
Goleen (in Irish – An Góilín) is a small rural hamlet on the renowned Wild Atlantic Way, on the south western tip of Ireland and part of the scenic Mizen Peninsula. Farming, tourism and construction are among the main occupations of the local people.
The acclaimed Mizen Head Visitor Centre with its cafe and gift shop is about five miles from the village. Tourists from all over the world are attracted to the Visitor Centre.
Goleen is home to the Mizen Information & e-Centre which is a community enterprise initiative and aims to provide both a convenient source of information for visitors to the area together with access to a modern, well connected. co-working resource, suitable for local and visiting business-people, entrepreneurs and e-workers.
The village has a few bars, including the recently renovated Wild West Bar which also serves food and caters for private functions and parties. The bar often has music in the evenings.
Herons Cove is a popular restaurant which also offers accommodation. The village also has a buzzing and friendly cafe, Along The Way as well as a butchers and local shop. Oska Fashions is based in Goleen and if you fancy a cup of coffee and a light bite Lucie’s Food truck is next to Oska.
Goleen is an ideal base from which to explore the Mizen Peninsula and other parts of West Cork.
